Packing Tips |
|
Experienced travellers
only take what they
need. Consider the
weather conditions
you'll encounter on
holiday, and the
activities that you'll
do, and then pack
accordingly. Be minimal
with your packing and
travel light. Remember,
if you are travelling by
plane your baggage will
be subject to the
airline's weight limits.
If you are carrying hand
luggage onto a plane
there are now strict
rules in place as to
what you can and cannot
take on board. All
liquids and creams must
be in containers of
100ml or less in size.
Sharp objects are not
allowed and any
medication, tablets and
personal hygiene items
like toothpaste must be
separated from the rest
of your items and placed
in clear plastic bags
for inspection at
airport security.
Bottled water is allowed
on the aircraft, but
only if it has been
purchased from the
airport AFTER you have
passed through security. |

Health Advice |
|
| When
travelling overseas it
is important to seek
advice on health issues
that may affect you on
holiday. These are
wide-ranging, and
include malaria,
sunstroke and diseases
such as hepatitis and
SARS. Know how to
prevent health problems
abroad, and get familiar
with the vaccinations
that you might need to
take before visiting
specific countries. For
malaria consider taking
malaria tablets. These
should be taken before
you travel and for up to
4 weeks after you come
back to counter the
malaria incubation
period. |

Travel Insurance |
|
| It
is strongly recommended
that you take out some
form of travel insurance
before you depart on
holiday. There are now
many companies offering
travel insurance, and
you can find them by
using Travel Search.
Travel insurance will
help you meet the cost
of medical treatment
should you fall ill in a
foreign country. If you
take out a comprehensive
travel insurance policy
all of your costs may be
covered. |
